Battlestar Galactica Alum James Callis Joins Cast Of Eureka
Mark Stern -- Syfy's executive vice president of development and co-head of original content for Universal Cable Productions announced that James Callis has joined the cast of "Eureka." Callis, who played the man you loved to hate Dr. Gaius Baltar on "Battlestar Galactica," will appear during the show's upcoming fourth season as Dr. Grant, a former resident of the town whose return is cause for alarm. His character will have a romantic interest in Allison Blake (Salli Richardson-Whitfield), which causes friction with Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson).
"Eureka seems like any other cozy, Pacific Northwest town, but is actually a secret community of geniuses assembled by the government to conduct top-secret research," Syfy said in a synopsis of the series. "What they've unwittingly created is a place where anything imaginable can happen … and does."
Other Battlestar Galactica alums have found work since the widely popular show ended its run. Since "Battlestar" concluded last year, Callis has landed a guest role on CBS' "Numbers" and is set to appear on ABC's "FlashForward"; former "Battlestar" co-star Jaime Bamber is on Law and Order: UK, Katee Sackhoff is appearing on Fox's "24," and Grace Park has been tapped for CBS' "Hawaii Five-O" remake.
Production begins this week on "Eureka" in Vancouver, and the show is set to return July 9.
