Avatar Could Get Supersized This Summer
If you saw the 160 minute long sci fi blockbuster Avatar, did you think this movies would have been so much better if it was just 10 minutes longer? Well, you're in luck. James Cameron and greedy film studio Fox are reported to be in discussions about re-releasing 'Avatar', primarily in 3D, with unseen footage. Although "Avatar" is the highest-grossing movie of all time, Fox feels it could have raked in even more money if it wasn't bumped out of 3D theaters for the opening of Alice in Wonderland on March 5. The Academy Award-winning director told USA Today this week that "the word we're getting back from exhibitors is we probably left a couple hundred million dollars on the table as a result," of making room for "Alice."
Realizing that audience may lose their appetite to watch an old movie when there are already a lot of great films during the summer, Cameron says, "The question is the appetite still going to be there after the summer glut of movies. We're going to assess that. We're talking about maybe adding in additional footage and doing something creative."
Before "Avatar" hits theaters once again, a two dimensional DVD of the original version of the sci-fi movie probably has been released. Furthermore, there are talks about making the DVD available for purchase in April or May this year. However, according to USA Today, Cameron mentioned a November release which Fox quickly debunked.

I thought that Avatar was over rated. Yes the effects were amazing and mind blowing but the story line was weak and not original. I don't think I would pay to see this in the theatre again...new footage or not.
