ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" Is Losing A Member Of The Family

ABC confirms Rob Lowe is leaving Brothers & Sisters at the end of the season.  Lowe joined the cast halfway through its first season and became a series regular in season 2.  Lowe wants more screen time but why aren't actors just happy to have work?  There seems to be no animosity between the network and Lowe.  It has been indicated that ABC and Lowe are already discussing other projects.

"We would like to keep Rob at ABC; we feel he should be anchoring his own franchise," ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson says in a statement. "We are in talks now."

Lowe has expressed concerns that his character, Robert McCallister, was being underused in the show's large ensemble, reports Deadline Hollywood, which broke the story. The most recent episode saw him abandon his Senate re-election campaign, then get taken aback when he finds out Kitty played by Calista Flockhart is considering a congressional run of her own.

ABC is just kicking its development season into gear, which should provide several opportunities for Lowe to find a new show.
